Sacramental Ministry

BAPTISM
Baptisms are celebrated in a beautiful group ceremony on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 11:45 am (following the 10:30 Mass). If you prefer, you can have your child baptized during a Sunday Mass on the 4th weekend of the month. As a third option, when the family has an expressed need, your child may be baptized in a private ceremony.

Requirements: The parents of the child must be registered members of the Saint Michael Catholic Church.

Parents must attend a pre-baptism class at the Parish Center. Classes are held on the Thursday preceding the second Sunday of the month.

A $25.00 donation is suggested

Contact Deacon Don Becker at his home, (763) 428-2386, to schedule the baptism for your child and to make arrangements to attend the pre-baptism class.

FIRST RECONCILIATION
First Reconciliation takes place during second Grade. Parents and teachers prepare students in the fall and the sacrament is celebrated in January. Students are required to be enrolled in Religious Education classes or Parish School during this year. Special arrangements are made for older students who have not received this Sacrament.

FIRST COMMUNION
First Communion also is celebrated during second grade, usually on the two Sundays following Easter at special 2:00 PM liturgies. Students also must be enrolled in classes at Parish School or Religious Education for Eucharist preparation. Parents are required to be actively involved in this process and resources are made available to them.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is received by students in tenth grade after completion of a two year program. Ninth grade lessons focus on morality and social justice, which includes community service projects. Tenth grade concentrates on church teachings and conversion of heart. Confirmation ceremony takes place in the spring at the Basilica or the Cathedral and parish celebrates with Sending Masses for the students close to that day.
