FIRST
RECONCILIATION
First Reconciliation takes place during second Grade. Parents
and teachers prepare students in the fall and the sacrament
is celebrated in January. Students are required to be enrolled
in Religious Education classes or Parish School during this
year. Special arrangements are made for older students who
have not received this Sacrament.
FIRST COMMUNION
First Communion also is celebrated during second grade, usually
on the two Sundays following Easter at special 2:00 PM liturgies.
Students also must be enrolled in classes at Parish School
or Religious Education for Eucharist preparation. Parents
are required to be actively involved in this process and resources
are made available to them.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is received by students in tenth grade after
completion of a two year program. Ninth grade lessons focus
on morality and social justice, which includes community service
projects. Tenth grade concentrates on church teachings and
conversion of heart. Confirmation ceremony takes place in
the spring at the Basilica or the Cathedral and parish celebrates
with Sending Masses for the students close to that day.
