| WHERE IS GOD IN YOUR LIFE?
IS GOD THE MOTIVATING FORCE IN
YOUR LIFE?
In turning more and more to God, we are letting go of many
things, especially our sense of control. Our greatest models
are found in Jesus and Mary, the Mother of God. Ask God to
help you turn the things in your life that may seem out of
control over to him. He will take care of all things and provide
you with what you need. Ask Jesus and Mary to help you, they
are our guide to the Father.
OUR CHALLENGE
The culture today makes it difficult to choose an attitude
and lifestyle of service to God and family. Our challenge
is choosing a lifestyle and attitude that reflects an understanding
of who Jesus is calling us to be. An attitude of individualism
can permeate a parish. Let us make choices institutionally
and individually that will strengthen our power to spread
Christ’s message in our homes, our church and our community.
OUR VISION
When our gifts are recognized, when we cultivate the gifts
of others, and respond generously to the needs of our parish
and our community, we are living as good stewards. Stewardship
is a way of life. Living as a good steward helps us focus
on how our lives reflect our belief in Christ. Our daily routines
at work and at home reflect our Christian beliefs. In 1992,
Pope John Paul II said that one of the great challenges of
Catholic adults is that we become transformed “from
a faith based on habit…[to a] faith based on personal
choice. A choice that is enlightened, convinced and testified
to.
THE CHRISTIAN STEWARD - MANY WAYS
OF SERVING
Your life is a powerful example to others. Each person has
been blessed by God with gifts and talents. What may seem
ordinary to you, may be a powerful witness to God. It’s
not how much you do, it’s what you are doing with what
God gave you.
Throughout the Gospels, the apostles and
disciples of Christ are called to act on their beliefs by
sharing the news of salvation. Likewise, our faith should
lead us to live as a people of God. It can be a challenge
to live openly as a Christian in today’s society. Yet,
it can also be very simple. We can be inviting and hospitable
in our workplace, in our church and with our families. Knowledge
of our salvation, brought through the suffering, death and
resurrection of Jesus, should bring a measure of peace and
joy to each of us.
The teachings of stewardship affirm and
celebrate the many ways our lives follow the example of Christ.
When we decide to follow Christ on the road of stewardship,
we don’t begin with giving more money or more time.
We begin by thanking God for our gifts and appreciating the
blessings of the people who walk with us on the journey. We
take little steps, but the steps are firm. We look at what
we are carrying on our journey. We meet others and share our
gifts. We appreciate the journey with a deeper understanding
of what Jesus came to earth to teach us. We thank God for
all that we have received and use what we have been given,
according to God’s plan. Our faith motivates us to transform
the structures in our lives to be more humane, more respectful
and more compassionate.
